ICI Paints® and the city of Phoenix Neighborhood Services Department Partner To Host Neighborhood Facelift Event For Grant Park Families
Dozens of volunteers from local professional and volunteer organizations will repaint six homes in Grant Park neighborhood on Saturday, May 21, 2005
Cleveland, OH - May 17, 2005 - ICI Paints® and the city of Phoenix Neighborhood Services Department are partnering to provide a freshening up to six homes in the Grant Park neighborhood on Saturday, May 21, 2005, with an event called Neighborhood Facelift. Neighborhood Facelift is designed to assist qualified homeowners with the tools and manpower to improve the exterior appearance of their homes. Nearly 50 volunteers will be on hand from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to help make a difference for Grant Park neighborhood residents.
Volunteers from ICI Paints®, the local chapter of the Painting & Decorating Contractors of America (PDCA), Fatima Church Youth Group, St. Anthony Church Youth Group and other local civic organizations will work this weekend to refurbish the exteriors of the homes. The PDCA also will do all necessary prep work on the homes prior to the event.
More than 80 gallons of paint will be used to complete the project, most of which was donated by ICI Paints® and other manufacturers in conjunction with Arizona State University's ASU CARES community service project in early March. In addition to its paint donation, ICI Paints® also will provide related materials, such as paint brushes, rollers, painters caps and other tools for the event.
"It's nice to know that so many people care about our community," said Armando Gandarilla, a homeowner whose 5th Avenue house will be painted as part of the Neighborhood Facelift project.
"The Neighborhood Facelift program is a great way for us to demonstrate our commitment to the communities in which we do business," said Jerry Luce, senior marketing manager, ICI Paints®. ICI Paints® has expanded its coverage in the Phoenix area, now serving customers out of 11 area locations and 15 locations statewide.
The six homes to be refurbished are located within a six-block radius in the Grant Park neighborhood. A media alert to be distributed before the event will include addresses (for media coverage purposes only). "Before" photos of the six homes will be available prior to the May 21 event by contacting Ray Buchanan of the city of Phoenix Neighborhood Services Department at 602.534.2274 or Lisa Zone of Dix & Eaton at 216.241.4629.
"We're proud to be using our professional decorating and contractor skills to help these Grant Park homeowners," said Brian Verbraken, Arizona Council President, PDCA. "We're pleased to play such a vital role in the revitalization of this neighborhood."
The Neighborhood Services Department works with resident partners every day to improve the quality of living in Phoenix's many diverse neighborhoods, and ICI Paints® is delighted to support this effort. The two organizations are working together to revitalize this community through the Neighborhood Facelift project.
