CLEVELAND - August 28, 2002 - ICI Paints, one of the world's leading manufacturers and distributors of decorative coatings, today announced that Larry Porcellato has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer of the company's North American operations based in downtown Cleveland.

Porcellato formerly was Chief Operating Officer for ICI Paints, reporting to departing CEO Ian R. McMahon, who has left the company to return to Europe and pursue another opportunity. Prior to that, Porcellato was Executive Vice President of Stores, directing ICI Paints' company stores division, where he oversaw all operations for ICI Paints company-owned stores nationwide.

"Larry brings excellent business management skills to bear on our critical North American paints business and I am confident strong results will continue to be achieved under his leadership."

Porcellato was also named President of the ICI Paints North American board of directors. Other board members are ICI Paints executives Grant A. Lawson, Chairman and Executive Vice President; John J. Haggerty, Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary, and David Jucha, Chief Financial Officer.

Porcellato joined ICI Paints in November 2000 after serving as President of the Mechanics Tools Division of Stanley Tools. Prior to joining Stanley, Porcellato was President and Chief Operating Officer of Rubbermaid Home Products.
