Glidden Dismissed from San Francisco Lead Paint Lawsuit
Dismissal Trend Continues in Lead Paint Cases
CLEVELAND, August 1, 2002 - Continuing a growing trend, The Glidden Company was dismissed from a lead paint lawsuit pending in San Francisco after plaintiffs' counsel agreed to dismiss the company because it never manufactured or sold lead products for use in paint.
Within the past year, Glidden has been dismissed from 12 lead paint cases in California, Maryland, Mississippi, New Jersey, Ohio, Rhode Island and Texas. Seven other cases are still pending. The company remains confident that it will ultimately prevail in the seven remaining cases. The San Francisco case has been pending since August 2000.
Cleveland-based Glidden does business as ICI Paints.
